Dorothy Napangardi was the winner of the
1998 Northern Territory art Award. First he paints the important sites, the two circles.
Then, keeping these in mind, he begins filling in
the painting, telling the journey of the ancestors
as they went from one site to another. Central Desert art is based on depicting timeless
stories using ancient symbols. They can be shown
as rhythmic patterns of colour, like lines drawn
in the sand.
